2005 gmc sierra 1500 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Denali luxury now with crew cab room. introductionthe gmc sierra is nearly identical to the chevy silverado but features more mature, restrained styling. With their 5-foot, 8-inch cargo box, sierra crew cabs are no longer than standard-bed, extended-cab models for easier parking and maneuverability. The 1500hd crew cab, which returns for 2005 after a one-year hiatus, can tow up to 10,200 pounds. Even the plush denali tows 8,100 pounds.  yet all sierras deliver a smooth, comfortable ride among the full-size pickups. Even compared to more recently introduced or re-engineered pickups from ford, dodge, and nissan, the sierra rides and handles very well. Although nominally classified as light duty or 'half-ton' trucks, the 1500s offer payloads ranging from 1,215 to 2,040 pounds, and tow ratings from 4,100 up to 9,000 pounds, depending on equipment. That's all the truck most consumers will ever need.  engine choices include a 4. 3-liter v6, 4. 8-liter v8, and 5. 3-liter v8. Available only as a crew cab with a 6-foot-6-inch bed (instead of the standard 1500 crew cab's 5-foot-8-inch bed), the 1500hd hauls 3,073 pounds with 2wd, 2,766 pounds with 4wd, and tows 10,200 pounds. Power is provided by the same 6. 0-liter v8 that's used in the 2500hd/3500; but the 1500hd should ride more smoothly than the heavy-duty trucks.  base models come with abs, air conditioning, cruise control, am/fm/cd audio, an attractive chrome grille molding, a chrome rear step bumper, and 17-inch chromed steel wheels. Carpeting and cloth seats are also standard. Regular and extended cabs are available, but not the crew cab, base prices range from $21,045 to $31,270.  the w/t (work truck) model deletes the cd player, chrome, cruise control and carpeting. These plane-jane trucks are aimed at commercial and municipal fleets, with prices ranging from $18,770 to $29,540.  sle trim adds fog lamps; power windows, mirrors, and door locks; a leather-wrapped steering wheel; overhead console; and other amenities. Leather upholstery is optional. The 4. 8-liter v8 and automatic transmission are standard on regular and extended cabs; crew cabs come with the 5. 3 and automatic. Prices range from $25,755 to $34,140.  slt trim, available on extended cabs and crew cabs, adds automatic dual-zone air conditioning, leather upholstery, power-adjustable bucket seats with heat and memory, floor console, heated outside mirrors, new gen6 onstar telecommunications and 17-inch aluminum wheels. The 5. 3-liter v8 is standard, with a higher-performing, all-aluminum 5. 3 in 4wd extended cabs. Denali comes with tone-on-tone leather, extra sound deadening, a bose audio system with separate controls for rear-seat passengers, and other exclusive amenities. It's equipped with steering wheel controls for the audio system, gen6 onstar, trip computer, and other programmable functions. Quadrasteer reduces sierra's curb-to-curb turning diameter by 26 percent and enhances high-speed stability. It comes packaged 1,995) with a limited-slip differential, heavy-duty brakes and clearance lights. walkaroundthe front styling of the gmc sierra ties it closely to the mid-size gmc envoy, and to some of the great gmc pickups of the past. The chrome-framed grille consists of three black horizontal bars that prominently display a big red gmc emblem. Chromed front bumpers include two airflow cutouts. Up-level models have a body-colored lower front fascia; base models have a light-charcoal fascia. An optional grille/brush guard adds front-end protection. A single onstar roof antenna combines the gps and cell-phone functions.  compared with the chevrolet silverado, gmc's styling is more conservative, more mature, with smoother, more sophisticated lines. Its chromed mesh grille looks like something from a hot-rod shop. Projector-beam headlamps and unique front fascia and fog lamps add up-market distinction, along with body color on the door handles, side moldings, tailgate handle, outside mirrors, rear bumper and tonneau cover. Chrome running boards with integral mud guards further distinguish the denali from other sierras.  for 2005, nearly all sierras come with 17-inch wheels: painted steel on work trucks, chromed steel on base and sle, aluminum on slt and polished aluminum on denali. The only exceptions are the 1500hd and the hybrid, which make do with 16-inch rims. Denali models are available with 20-inch wheels for a stronger styling statement.  the load height (the distance from the ground to the bed) for 2wd sierra models is just 31. 6 inches. For 4wd models, it's 33. 7 inches. The frame rails are hydroformed, a process that uses high-pressure hydraulics to shape relatively large steel components. Tubular crossmembers and roll-formed mid-rails increase rigidity further. This stiff structure enhances handling and ride quality immensely, while improving crashworthiness. interiorthe gmc sierra cab remains among the roomiest in the industry, with large door openings to aid entry and exit. The seats are big and cushy. Other pickup owners find the gm seats more to their liking. Also, the interior door handles are ropey and awkward.  the instrument cluster features highly legible gauges with white backlighting and orange pointers. The denali's gauges are unique and feature blue backlighting and white pointers. A driver information center reports on as many as 27 vehicle functions with an easy-to-read, single-line lcd display. A compass is incorporated into the overhead console, along with three storage areas for sunglasses, garage door opener, and small items.  audio and climate controls are sophisticated, yet easy to operate. The system comes with am, fm1, fm2, xm1, and xm2 bands. Steering wheel-mounted audio controls (on slt and denali) make it easy to switch among station presets and modes. Onstar is the leading provider of in-vehicle safety, security and information services in the uni. 2010 chevrolet hhr review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Retro looks, fun to drive, versatile and efficient. introductionthe chevrolet hhr is a car-based retro-wagon that celebrates its chevy heritage with styling inspired by the iconic 1949 suburban. Hhr stands for heritage high roof, a reference to the early high-roofed suburbans and panel wagons that inspired its design.  based on the same platform as the chevrolet cobalt, the hhr was first launched as a 2006 model. The hhr is similar in concept to the chrysler pt cruiser.  we found the chevy hhr fun to drive. It isn't a sports car, but it's nimble and we were pleased with its acceleration. The hhr feels more responsive than its horsepower, torque, and transmission ratio numbers suggest. Plus, it gets decent fuel economy.  the hhr panel van features smooth, windowless side panels and side cargo doors with no handles. The cargo doors open via an instrument panel button. While it's plainer inside and provides seating for only two, the panel best exemplifies the early suburban heritage.  the hhr ss is the most fun to drive of the hhr models, launching quickly off the line and offering sharp handling. Options for the ls include remote start, the automatic transmission 1,000), running boards, a spoiler, and a variety of other factory and dealer-installed features and accessories.  the hhr lt 19,720) adds remote start as standard (but only with the automatic transmission), an eight-way power driver's seat, driver's lumbar support, and the availability of many more optional extras, including a bright chrome appearance package.  the hhr 2lt adds the lt equipment group 1,700), which includes the 2. 4-liter engine, 17-inch chrome alloy wheels, fog lamps, running boards, fe3 sport suspension, bluetooth connectivity, leather-wrapped steering wheel, auto-dimming mirror, and a pioneer audio system with seven speakers and 260 watts.  the hhr ss 26,255) adds the turbocharged engine, performance handling suspension, 18-inch polished alloy wheels, ss embroidered seats, a rear spoiler, and other items. Optional on the ss is the performance package 895).  the hhr panel comes in ls 19,030) and lt 20,030) versions. Options and prices for the panel are the same as for the equivalent levels of the non-panel versions.  one interesting option for the ls and lt utility versions are solid rear quarter panels 195), which close in the rear sides and give a look somewhat between the utility and the panel models.  safety features include front airbags, front and rear side-curtain airbags, anti-lock brakes, stabilitrak electronic stability control with traction control, and tire-pressure monitoring. walkaroundwe like the retrospective styling of the chevy hhr, though the whole retro craze is getting long in the tooth. The closest comparison is the chrysler pt cruiser, another retro-styled utility vehicle with good fuel efficiency.  the rounded nose of the hhr is not unlike chevy's ssr, which also reflects the brand's truck heritage. The hhr's fenders are well defined, with flat side wheel-well openings contrasting favorably with the vehicle's many curved, contemporary sculpted surfaces. Front and rear bumpers and fog lamps are integrated into seamless fascia, with nostalgic integrated running boards. The flush glass all around, including the windshield, is a nice touch, as are the headlights surrounded by body panels in old school fashion. The taillamp treatment consists of two round vertically stacked lenses on each side. The large, prominent grille is chrome, (except on the ss model), and appears much like that of the 1949 suburban.  front and rear bumpers are molded from composite material, integrated as part of their respective fascia. It provides lots of room and functionality without being boxy. When viewed from a distance, the hhr looks larger than it really is. Examined closely, it's compact. The cargo doors open wide, enabling cargo access from both sides of the vehicle, as well as from the rear liftgate. The cargo doors are smooth and don't have external handles; they are opened via a dashboard release button or the remote keyless entry fob. The large, continuous area created by the windowless cargo doors and rear panels is ideal for business logos, advertising or personalization. Side visibility is obviously limited due to the solid sides without windows; one must rely primarily on mirrors for backing maneuvers. The smooth, windowless sides on the panel give it a cleaner, retro, more hot rod look than the standard models. The lack of windows adds security for contents inside.  the hhr ss sits lower than its stable mates, but sports extended front and rear fascias that give it the appearance of riding much lower. The front fascia features an air-dam design with integrated fog lights, and the grille comes with mesh-style upper and lower grille inserts. The new rear fascia provides a cutout for a single bright exhaust tip. Rocker moldings somewhat resemble accentuated running boards. Out back, a rear spoiler is mounted above the rear glass. Body-color door handles, mirror caps and the rear license plate surround, along with ss badging on the front doors and liftgate, further differentiate the ss from the others. interiorinside, the chevy hhr provides, for the most part, comfortable and functional surroundings. Included are durable, easy-to-clean cargo surfaces, a front passenger seat that folds flat for more cargo space, a 60/40 split/fold-flat second-row seat, and a multi-position cargo package tray in the rear that provides cargo security. Speaking of headroom, there isn't a lot of it, in spite of the high roof. There's a handy flip-up compartment on top of the dash and a small glovebox. The rear provides one cupholder and small door pockets. The rear seat, split 60/40, folds flat very easily, as does the front passenger seat, and, since the 60-percent side of the rear seat is on the right, a long item like a ladder can be slipped in diagonally, a nice feature. The rear cargo floor flips up to reveal a five-inch-deep tray useful for storage. The rear liftgate is one piece and raises easily.  the hhr panel provides seating for two and a large, flat cargo floor with tie-down points to help hold things in place. The hhr panel cargo area features a standard auxiliary power outlet, as well as a 40-amp auxiliary power connector to provide service for a variety of specialty equipment needs. Two large storage compartments, with a lockable option, are located forward under the cargo floor (in place of the rear seats of the passenger models). The compartments offer security for things such as computer equipment, flashlights, service manuals and other valuables.  the hhr ss features a special interior with ss-embroidered sport seats with inserts, a specific gauge cluster, an a-pillar-mounted turbo boost gauge and a new shifter arrangement. The 2. 4-liter delivers 172 horsepower at 5800 rpm and 167 pound-feet of torque at 4500 rpm. The torque peak figure at such a high rpm suggests that the low-rpm pulling power might be weak, but quite to the contrary, it's not. Faced with a steep, slow hill, the hhr worked its way upward like a tractor, with no shifting-down or searching by the automatic transmission. 2012 mini cooper convertible review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Handling, efficiency and style in a variety of guises. introductionthe mini cooper delivers agile handling, crisp performance and an interminably cute bulldog appearance in a tidy, efficient, front-wheel drive package, with plenty of space and comfort for front seat passengers.  the number of mini cooper body styles has expanded to include hardtop, clubman, coupe, convertible, and roadster versions, all similar in terms of mechanicals, structure, front sheetmetal, and interiors. All ride on the same 97-inch wheelbase except the clubman, a stretched version that rides on a 100-inch wheelbase.  the styling of the mini coopers was freshened for 2011 with new bumper, tail light and wheel designs. The front ends were also reshaped to meet new requirements for pedestrian safety.  for 2012, updates for the mini cooper models were confined to cosmetics, including a new line of trim options aimed at giving owners more opportunity to individualize their cars. This engine works best with the standard 6-speed manual transmission, which adds to the sportiness and makes the mini cooper fun to drive. Acceleration performance isn't quick but it's adequate. The mini cooper delivers excellent fuel economy, earning an epa rating of 29/37 mpg city/highway, or 28/36 mpg with the automatic. Premium gasoline is required, however.  the mini cooper s models come with a turbocharged version of the same engine that generates 181 horsepower and a substantial 177 pound-feet of torque, making it one of the world's most powerful engines for its size. All the minis are fun to drive, but in cooper s trim they deliver exhilarating performance and nimble handling that's most easily appreciated on a twisty back road. With all that torque, this engine works well with the automatic though we still prefer the manual for sportiness. In spite of the significant performance difference, fuel economy is still excellent, earning an epa-estimated 27/35 mpg or 26/34 mpg with the automatic. Premium gasoline is required.  the mini cooper hardtop is quite practical when viewed as a two-seat car with cargo capacity. The front seats are very comfortable and supportive seats, and they are large enough to accommodate all sizes of drivers and front passengers. With its hatchback and folding rear seats, the hardtop can haul reasonable amounts of gear. The back seats are best left for small children or, better yet, stuff.  those who want more room might choose the mini cooper clubman, which is essentially a small station wagon. The clubman is 9. 4 inches longer overall than the hardtop, and 3. 2 inches longer in wheelbase. The extra wheelbase converts to more rear legroom, making it more practical for rear-seat passengers. Access to the rear seat is eased by a third, rear-hinged door on the passenger side. The clubman also features side-hinged swing-out doors at the back, for easy access to the cargo area, though they don't improve the appearance.  a wide range of styling options allows owners to personalize their cars, and it's a major part of mini's appeal. The choices cover upholstery style, material and color; exterior graphics; trim pieces; ambient lighting; and exterior paint, including contrasting colors for the roof. Functional options include high-end features like adaptive xenon headlights, rear obstacle warning and a navigation system. The basic minis are reasonably priced, starting under $20,000. Check too many options, however, and the ticket can soar into luxury territory, approaching $40,000.  the most expensive minis are the high-performance john cooper works models. With 208 horsepower, 192 pound-feet of torque and ultra-firm suspension tuning, the jcw package turns the mini cooper into a little hot rod, just the thing for charging up the monte carlo stages. The jcw package is available for all models (except the mini countryman crossover). For 2012, the mini cooper jcw performance package includes the aero body kit as standard equipment.  mini coopers offer a great combination of style, driving fun, low operating costs and practicality. It comes with leatherette upholstery, air conditioning, power windows with auto-down, cruise control, remote keyless entry, outside temperature display, a cooled glovebox, rear wiper, 15-inch alloy wheels and am/fm stereo with a single-disc cd player and six speakers. For 2012, both hd and satellite radio are standard, with a one-year sirius subscription.  cooper s 23,100) turbocharging raises output of the engine to 181 horsepower and peak torque to 177 lb-ft. The cooper s also has a firmer suspension, 16-inch wheels and unique exterior details.  the jcw hardtop 29,900) is the raciest model of all, with a 208-hp version of the turbocharged engine, even firmer suspension, larger brakes and 205/45r17 run-flat tires. The jcw models are manual transmission only.  the mini cooper convertible 24,950) is equipped comparably to the base hardtop, except for its power-operated soft top and standard 16-inch wheels. The cooper s convertible 27,950) and john cooper works convertible 35,100) approximate corresponding hardtop models in standard equipment and performance.  the mini cooper clubman 21,200) has a slightly longer wheelbase than the hardtop, with an equal increase in rear seat legroom. It also has a short, third side door on the passenger side for easier access to the rear seat, as well as the swing-out double doors in the back. The sport package 1,250) includes suspension, wheel/tire and other performance upgrades, as well as competition stripes, depending on the model. The convenience package 1,250) adds rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights, bluetooth, a universal garage door opener, auto-dimming rearview mirror and proximity key. The premium package 1,750) includes a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control and a high-power harman-kardon audio upgrade. The cold weather package 500) adds heated front seats, power folding mirrors and heated washer jets. Many of the items from the various packages are also available as stand-alone options. Other significant stand-alones include a limited-slip differential 250), xenon headlights 500), adaptive headlights 600), rear park distance control 500), and navigation 1,750).  safety features include dual-stage front impact airbags, front passenger side-impact airbags and full-cabin head protection curtains. The convertible has a pop-up rear rollover bar. Dynamic safety features include dynamic stability control (dsc) and full-feature antilock brakes (abs), with electronic brake force distribution, brake assist, and cornering brake control. All models with the manual transmission feature hill assist, which activates the brakes when starting on an uphill start to prevent the car from rolling back. Adaptive headlights became available for the first time on minis in 2011. This technology allows the headlights to follow the line of upcoming corners for better illumination of the road surface. Rear park distance control obstacle warning is optional. walkaroundthe mini cooper lineup has multiplied since this second-generation version was launched as a 2007 model. Each new variant has been a bit different than the standard two-door hardtop, as mini calls the hatchback version. Yet none of the subsequent models will be mistaken for anything other than a close sibling to the chic, irrepressible cute hardtop, or for that matter any mini model sold since the brand was re-introduced in 2000.  all mini models were freshened a bit front and rear for 2011. The updates include new bumper designs and tail lights

2009 hyundai sonata review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Economical midsize sedan improved for 2009. introductionhyundai sonata gets a host of revisions for the 2009 model year. It comes with cloth upholstery, air conditioning, cruise control, power heated outside mirrors, power windows, central locking with keyless remote, am/fm/cd/mp3 stereo with six speakers, xm satellite radio, tilt steering wheel, 60/40 folding rear seat, and 215/60r16 tires on 16-inch steel wheels. The popular equipment package 650) adds automatic headlights, chrome window belt moldings, upgraded interior accents, power driver seat with adjustable lumbar support, steering wheel audio controls and a trip computer. The premium package 1,650) for se adds an upgraded am/fm/xm/6cd/mp3 audio system with six speakers, subwoofer and component amplifier; power tilt-and-slide sunroof; and an electrochromic auto-dimming rear view mirror with homelink and a compass.  the limited 23,970) adds leather seating surfaces, heated front seats, automatic climate control with filtration, the top-line audio system, electrochromic auto-dimming rear view mirror with homelink and compass, door sill trim and a sunroof. A chrome grille, chrome-accented exterior door handles, and bodyside moldings identify limited from the outside. Wheels and tires are the same size as those on the se, but use a different tread pattern. The limited v6 25,670) is similarly equipped. A new voice-activated navigation system is available 1250).  safety features on all sonatas include dual-stage front-seat airbags; front-seat side-impact airbags for torso protection; and full-coverage side curtain airbags designed to provide head protection. Antilock brakes (abs) with electronic brake-force distribution (ebd) and electronic stability control (esc) with traction control also come standard, as does a tire-pressure monitor. walkaroundalthough it's just a couple of years old, the hyundai sonata has been given a mild facelift for 2009. The front fascia remains refreshingly clean and spare, with sharply angled headlight housings and a deeper, clean-cut grille topped with a sliver of chrome. Wide and deep openings beneath the front bumper provide a home for tightly focused fog lamps and visually pull the front end closer to the ground, while directing cooling air into the radiator. The striking, concave hood reduces the car's perceived mass without cramping the engine compartment.  the side treatment avoids the all too common wedge look with an almost horizontal beltline riding above softly shouldered fenders and door panels. Mirrored z-seams where the end corners of the bumpers meet the quarter panels add interest, while blacked-out window surrounds play down the tall side glass. The flat-flanged rims on the up-level 17-inch wheels suggest a high-end european import more than an affordable asian nameplate.  the taillight outlines repeat the headlight shapes and bookend a broad, trapezoidal license plate inset; the backup light portion of the lens is smaller but output is the same. Again, there's a hint of other cars' architecture, most notably segment heavyweights like the camry, accord, and malibu. Sporty, california hot rod-idiom dual exhausts mark the v6-equipped versions.  the hyundai sonata continues to refine its signature design cues, the sculptors looking in the right places without offending conservatism. interiorthe 2009 sonata interior is a significant step forward from the previous model, although housed in the same cabin space. It is judged a large car by epa size standards and is the largest among midsize sedans in terms of interior volume.  the cabin feels more integrated, with new flowing lines for 2009. A tapered center stack rolls gently off the dash into the center console, replacing the blocky look of the previous dash. The overall look is competitive with most in the class and reminds us of some nissan and acura interiors. Materials seem to have more depth, as even the hard plastic trim common on lower door and console panels looks better.  lighter materials frame the vents and center stack. The center stack houses the clock, audio and navigation systems, and climate controls. There's also a sizable bin that holds 10 cd jewel cases above the ashtray ahead of the shifter. Splashes of trim grow from the console outward mid-height on the dash and are mirrored on the doors; on cars with woodgrain trim the shifter gets a slice of the same material. The largest is the speedometer, to its left is the tachometer, to its right conjoined water temperature and fuel gauges. In the lower dash to the left of the steering column is a bank of five switch plugs, only two of which are employed in the u. Version; one is an on/off for the esc (electronic stability control), the other the dash-light rheostat. Beyond that is a flip-down storage bin. The ignition key slides into a slot placed where it should be, in the dash to the right of the steering column instead of on the steering column itself, easier and more elegant when starting or shutting off the car.  for 2009, the limited model is available with a voice-recognition navigation system. Redundant controls for the audio are to the lower left-side of the hub. On the other side of the hub are the standard cruise controls, with a helpful cancel function. All stalk functions are straightforward and require no adaptation.  outward visibility is good, although some will find the wide c-pillars constrict quick, over-the-shoulder traffic checks for lane changing. Rear side windows roll all the way down, thanks to small, fixed, rear quarter windows that move the windows' rear tracks forward in the door, ahead of the wheel well. There's a roof-mounted, hinged assist handle inside every door.  seats are comfortable, with adequate bolstering fo. 2010 volkswagen cc review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The styling is radical by volkswagen standards, certainly eye-catching in its sleekness. The cc, for comfort coupe, was launched as an all-new model for 2009 and carries through 2010 unchanged.  the interior design and materials are exceptional; and the optional two-tone stitched leather bucket seats are downright italian-like. Yet it retails for less than $30,000 taillights over the curb, making it a compelling value. The 2. 0-liter engine makes 200 horsepower and gets an epa-estimated 31 mpg highway on premium fuel. We found it delightful underway, smooth and very responsive.  vr6 models use the dynamic vw 3. 6-liter v6, now making 280 horsepower, and the tiptronic. It's a great setup, though with its higher price the value equation isn't as compelling as it is with the 2. 0.  we found the highway ride smooth and solid, firm but not harsh. The electromechanical steering makes parking easy. The brakes work very well. lineupthe 2010 volkswagen cc models include the sport, luxury, vr6 sport, and vr6 4motion. The only transmission available in the other three models.  sport 27,550) comes with leatherette upholstery, heated 12-way adjustable driver's seat and eight-way passenger seat, premium 6cd/mp3 audio, 17-inch alloy wheels with 235/45r17 self-sealing all-season tires, sports suspension, traction control with differential lock, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, and multi-function steering wheel with aluminum trim. The sport comes standard with the six-speed manual transmission, but is also available with the six-speed tiptronic 28,650) automatic.  luxury 32,830) upgrades to leather upholstery, fancier alloy wheels, tilt panorama sunroof, dual zone climate control, park distance control, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, heated washer nozzles, homelink, brushed aluminum interior trim, sirius radio, memory seats and self-dimming rearview mirror. The tiptronic comes standard.  vr6 sport 39,015) adds paddle shifters, power rear sunshade, a 600-watt dynaudio premium sound system. The vr6 sport comes with the v6 engine and tiptronic automatic.  vr6 4motion 40,115) adds volkswagen's sophisticated all-wheel-drive system with haldex center differential.  safety equipment includes six airbags (frontal, side front and full curtain), advanced stability control with abs, tire pressure monitoring system. 4motion can enhance safety in adverse conditions. walkaroundthe cc was a surprise to the market, and the reviews of its styling since its launch have been very favorable. It achieves what it sets out to do: look like a really expensive car. The new sleek roofline seemingly came straight from a hotrod chop shop, lower by a couple of inches (a mere 56 inches tall) and swept back as if the car were racing into a 200-mph wind. The c pillar is wide, but barely visible because it flows back, not down. On the same wheelbase as the passat, the cc has a slightly wider track and is only 1. 2 inches longer, but the shape makes it look bigger. But it's only 62 pounds heavier than a passat.  it's unmistakably volkswagen from the front, because of the big vw in the grille, but mistakable from other angles. It's hard to see that the track is only . 4 inches wider in the front (. 6 in the rear), because of the width of the chrome grill with two horizontal bars, and the wraparound headlamps with arrowhead corners front and back. The air intake under the grille gives the cc a strong jaw, with foglamps each side, under long thin amber slivers for turn signals (with amber slits on the mirrors, very cool). The whole nose says upscale.  the profile says upscale too, but it sure doesn't say volkswagen. The cc looks more upscale than even the $80,000 phaeton. Just not as big.  out of the bold front fender flares, character lines zoom rearward and upward like speed lines, most dramatically the top lines that nearly touch the taillights. The lower line has a chrome strip pasted over it, and it wraps around the rear of the car over the rear bumper. The windshield is steeply raked, the doorsill high and the seat low, although it doesn't have to be that way because height is one of the 12 ways the seat is adjustable. So visibility out the front is not compromised. It's not bad out the rear either, although the headrests don't help; and blind spots from the wide c pillars are reduced by fixed triangular rear door windows behind the passengers' ears. Which are perilously close to the steeply sloping roofline. Rear seat headroom is something that definitely has been compromised by the lower roof.  the two seats in the rear are bucket-like, ergonomically designed like the fronts, with wide thigh bolsters, separated by the space taken up by a rolltop cupholding console, as well as a fold-down armrest (behind which is a pass-through hatch to the trunk for skis and such). Not just cupholders in there, but small triangular bins for poker chips or peanuts or whatever. There's a decent but not sumptious 37. 3 inches of rear legroom.  each seat is a cozy compartment that makes a passenger feel special, to have his or her own space, like a space ship. Plus, there's an emergency medical kit in that console. It's a driver's compartment made for relaxing, with good vents to control the climate. driving impressionthe 200-horsepower, turbocharged 2. 0-liter engine shoots the car forward impressively, as quick, smooth and satisfying as just about any v6 in any sedan: 0-60 in 7. 4 seconds, and only 0. 1 second slower in the quarter-mile than the vr6. Torque is 207 pound-feet, but, importantly, it comes on at 1700 rpm. With variable valve timing and direct injection, in addition to the turbocharger intercooler, the 2. 0 leads its class in technology.  fuel mileage for the 2. 0-liter engine is epa-rated at 21/31 city/highway, which is what we got with more than 50 percent highway driving, including some rapid two-lane transit. Top speed is 130 mph, and we didn't go there, but we'll bet it could run near those speeds without stress, on the autobahn. And although the tiptronic manual mode lends itself to playtime, the rest of the car doesn't really. This is a gentleman's sport sedan comfort coupe thing. Sport is a relative game.
